AI requests by topic

A column showing how much of Claude.ai usage in a market is about each prompt's topic, from a public index, beside search demand.

The AI requests column on Prompts shows how big each prompt's topic is in everyday AI use. It sits straight after Demand in both the Matrix and List views.

AI requests by topic

What the figure means

It is the share of Claude.ai conversations in the prompt's market that are about the closest matching topic, for example 0.59%. Hover or tap the figure to see the topic, the market and the source: the Anthropic Economic Index, May 2026, published under a CC BY licence. The ? beside the column heading links to the dataset and the licence.

  • A figure with an \* is the worldwide figure, used because the index did not publish that topic for the prompt's country. The hover says so.
  • A dash means no topic in the index matched the prompt.

How a prompt is matched

Each prompt is matched to one of a set of 38 topics from the index by fixed word lists, checked against the prompt's text and its own topic label. The topic with the most matches wins. No model is used.

Read it with care

  • It covers Claude.ai conversations only, not every AI assistant. It leaves out business and API use.
  • The topics are kinds of request, such as "Home renovation", not products. For a project in one industry, most prompts get the same figure, so the column tells you how big the topic is, not which prompt matters most.
  • The index is updated every few months, so the figure is a snapshot.

To rank your prompts, use search demand and opportunity first. See Organise and export your prompts for choosing columns.
