Top opportunities

The week's five most important pieces of work, on Actions, ranked by expected impact, and the same list in your summary email.

Top opportunities answers one question: what should I work on this week? It is a tab of Actions, beside What changed. Where your workspace still has the older Overview layout (the Perception page is off), it is the first tab of the Details card on the Overview instead.

What you see

Ranked by expected impact, with a ? that explains the method, then up to five rows. Each row has:

  • a small tag for its kind: a type of fix, Content gap or Citation decay;
  • a title, and one line of real counts;
  • an Impact pill: High, Medium or Low.

Choose a row to go where the work is done: Actions, or the Content gaps or Citation decay tab on Sources. The tab shows only when there is something to list, and it follows the filters at the top of the Overview.

What is ranked

Three kinds of item share one scale:

  1. Your open actions, as the Actions list shows them.
  2. Content gaps: questions whose answers seldom cite your website.
  3. Pages of yours that are losing citations.

Each is scored the way actions are: how often people ask, how big the gap is, and how many answers it affects. Corrections come first, whatever their band. After that the order is by Impact band, then by score. The figures come from checks you already have, so nothing extra is collected and nothing is charged.

In your summary email

If your summary email is on, it can carry a Top opportunities block of up to five lines, with an Open Overview link, in place of the top actions block. It appears only when there is something to list. See Notifications for the summary email.

Read it with care

The ranking is a guide, not a promise. The weights are our own, and the "pages losing citations" score is a simplified one. Use it to decide where to look first, then open the item.
