The visibility score is a single number from 0 to 100 shown on the Overview. 100 means every answer names you first.
How it is worked out
For each answer:
- If the answer does not name your brand, it scores 0.
- If it does, it scores 0.9 to the power of (your position minus 1). Named first is 1.00, second 0.90, third 0.81, fourth 0.73, and so on.
Then the scores are averaged in three steps: across the repeats of a prompt, then across prompts with every prompt counting equally, then across engines with every engine counting equally. The result is multiplied by 100 and rounded.
The score combines two figures that are also shown separately: how often you are named, and how high up you are.
What is left out
- Branded prompts, as in the other headline figures.
- Failed calls, and searches where Google showed no AI answer.
The range
Hover the score to see its range. Each repeat gives its own score, and the range runs from the lowest to the highest. A wide range means the answers vary a lot from run to run, so a small move in the score is not a real change. How accurate are the numbers?
What it does not tell you
The score has no bands such as "good" or "poor". Use the rank among your competitors ("2nd of 6") for context.
A score that rises while Visibility stays flat means you are being named higher up. A score that falls while Visibility stays flat means you are being named lower down.
