Tick Weight by position and the Share of voice column in the Ranking table shows the weighted figure. Untick it for plain share of voice, which stays the default.
| Named | Counts as |
|---|---|
| First | 1 |
| Second | 1/2 |
| Third | 1/3 |
| Fourth | 1/4, and so on |
How it is worked out
Each time a tracked brand is named in an answer, it scores by its place, as above. A brand's share is its weighted score divided by every tracked brand's. As with plain share of voice, every prompt counts equally, and the shares add up to 100%.
So a brand named first in every answer gains share, and one usually named last loses it. Hover the ? by Share of voice for the weights.
Where to find it
Competitors, the Ranking card: the Weight by position tick box beside the heading.
What to do next
If your weighted share is well below your plain share, you are named but late. See Position distribution for where you sit in each answer.
