Some engines read pages while they write an answer and then cite only some of them. This list shows the pages that show up as reading material but rarely earn a citation, so you can see which pages get looked at and passed over.
Find it
- On Prompts, choose a prompt to open its answers.
- Find Retrieved but not cited.
- Choose Show pages. The button shows how many pages are listed.
What is listed
Every page cited in fewer than half of the answers that read it for this prompt, including pages never cited at all. Each row gives:
- the page and its website,
- You for your own pages, or the competitor it belongs to,
- the engines that read it,
- its citation rate: the answers that cited it, out of the answers that read it.
Hover the rate for the counts, for example "Cited in 1 of 5 answers that read it".
Lowest rate puts the least cited pages first. This is the default. Most read puts the pages read most often first.
Only some engines say which pages they read. Engines that do not are named under Not shown.
What to do next
- One of your own pages with a low rate is being read and passed over. Make the answer to the prompt easy to find and quote near the top of that page.
- A competitor's page that is read often but rarely cited shows where the engines look for this prompt. A clearer page of your own on the same question can take its place.
- The tiles above the list, Retrievals, Citation rate, Not cited and Yours not cited, are explained in Source details.
