Pages normally lists only pages AI has cited, crawled or sent visits to. Upload sitemap adds the rest of your site, so a page nothing has reached yet still shows up as a row.
How to use it
- Download your sitemap file (
sitemap.xml) from your site. - Open Pages and press Upload sitemap.
- Choose the file. It is read in your browser, and only the page addresses are sent.
- A short message says how many pages were added.
Next to the button, a count such as 120 from sitemap shows how many of the rows came from your upload. Press Remove beside it to take them all out again.
What counts
- Only pages on your project's own website, including its subdomains, are added. Pages on other sites are skipped and counted in the message.
- Pages are added once. Uploading again adds only what is new.
- Pages holds up to 500 rows. Pages over that are not added, and the message says how many.
- A sitemap file can be up to 50 MB, and up to 5000 addresses are read from it.
